How To Ease Back Pain While At Work

Back pain is a condition that may cause a lot of inconvenience and hindrance to the normal lifestyle of an individual.

Most of the people who works in their office that doesn't have enough time to exercise are experiencing back pain.

It is a common musculoskeletal symptom that can be acute or chronic, affects about 80 percent of Americans, and is the second most common condition for visits to primary care doctors.

This condition may have a negative impact on one’s production and office performance.

Employees who frequently experience back pain because of office work may make changes in their office routines to prevent this condition from developing.

Aside from maintaining proper sitting posture, doing changes in one’s office routine that may include the following can help prevent the frequency of back pain:

Take regular short breaks

Taking short, regular breaks from work may greatly reduce the development of back pain.

This action may give the back muscles time to relax. Including simple stretches and walking around during breaks may also help.

Maintain healthy body weight

Unnecessary weight may put additional strain on the spine, especially for those who have unnecessary pounds in their stomach.

Exercising to lose weight will also help to improve one’s posture and stretch the back muscles.

Plan your moves

Unnecessary bending, twisting, and reaching, among others, may contribute to the development of back pain.

Making a conscious effort to eliminate these unnecessary actions may reduce the frequency of back pain. Limiting the time spent on carrying heavy briefcases, purses, and bags may also help.

Listen to the body

Taking a 30-second timeout every 15 minutes, standing up when answering the phone, to stretch and change positions may prevent back pain.

Individuals who experience back pain are encouraged to refrain from activities that aggravate it.

Whether it's dull and annoying or chronic, back pain can make it hard to concentrate on one’s job.

But this condition can be avoided by understanding what causes them and focusing on prevention.
